Your Handbook is Probably Illegal and Other Impacts of a New Labor Board and a Revitalized Labor Movement

2014 Annual Conference
Workplace Application: This session discusses the impact of a full and legally appointed National Labor Relations Board on employer policies and labor relations strategies.

The Labor Board has utilized its decision and rule-making authority to expand its reach and the definition of “protected concerted activity” to many different areas including handbooks, employer investigations, policies and procedures. In addition, previously blocked Board rules and decisions designed to “update” the NLRB election process and assist unions in organizing new members will be implemented very soon. Ultimately, you must consider and adopt an entirely new labor relations strategy to guide your organizations and prepare for this completely new challenge.
