Manager Onboarding: Setting New Leaders Up for Success

2017 Talent Management Conference & Exposition
Workplace Application: This session will provide you with five practical tips for developing a management onboarding program that will set new managers up for success.

The worst thing an organization can do is hire or promote the most technically competent person to management and not set him or her up for success. Leadership and management development programs only give managers one piece of what they need to accomplish organizational goals. The rest should be done with manager onboarding. Using the principles of career development and employee onboarding, you can contribute to bottom-line results by successfully onboarding managers in their new roles. This session will help you:

·         Recognize the reasons why new managers—including human resources managers—need their own onboarding program.

·         Learn how to design a manager onboarding program that will meet organizational goals, in the cases of both succession planning and accelerated/unplanned promotions.

·         Understand the metrics that can be used to evaluate program success.
