Advocacy Day is an opportunity to shape future policies and amplify HR’s voice on Capitol Hill.
The Employment Law & Legislative Conference provides a unique opportunity for HR professionals to meet with their respective Senators and Members of the House of Representatives on Capitol Hill. SHRM’s Government Affairs team will schedule meetings on your behalf and provide a legislative briefing to prepare you for your visits. During the meetings with elected officials and their staffs, you will join other HR advocates from your state to discuss how pending workplace legislation affects employees and employers in your community. By participating in the Capitol Hill visits, you join forces with other SHRM advocates - many of whom have heralded these meetings with lawmakers as the highlight of their previous conference experience. Don’t miss this amazing opportunity to join with other HR advocates as we raise our voices to advance the HR profession!
Never attended a SHRM Advocacy Day? This is the perfect opportunity to join your peers and fellow advocates in reviewing talking points and how-to strategies, and even to witness live demonstrations and scenarios to help you effectively communicate your views and experiences on legislative issues with congressional representatives.
A seasoned participant of SHRM's Capitol Hill Visits? Don't miss this particular session to proactively analyze the legislative issues pending this spring that directly impact the HR profession and to help ensure a successful Advocacy Day and an exciting 2018 for HR.
If you plan to attend Advocacy Day, we recommend you attend the Advocacy Boot Camp on Tuesday, March 13 from 5:15 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. to prepare you for your time on Capitol Hill.
Please note: Per the SHRM Certification Recertification Handbook attendees participating in the HR Advocacy/Boot Camp are allowed to claim 3 PDCs per year.
