CANCELLED: The Case for Hiring Imperfect People: It’s Time to Consider Applicants Who Fail Background Checks

2018 Talent Conference & Exposition
You will learn how companies are successfully recruiting and hiring from the untapped labor pool of applicants with criminal backgrounds.

As talent acquisition professionals, you know how hard it is to find top talent. Great job applicants can be found in unlikely places: sometimes they’re people with criminal backgrounds who’ve earned and deserve a second chance. Arte Nathan pioneered recruiting among this population and found great success at Mirage, Bellagio and Wynn Las Vegas. Today he’s working with HOPE for Prisoners (HOPE), a Las Vegas-based non-profit that facilitates reentry and reintegration services to men, women, and young adults who are exiting various segments of the judicial system. This session will include a look into HOPE’s programming as well as discussions with a CHRO from a leading entertainment company and a graduate of HOPE’s program to illustrate success stories. During this session you will learn:

  • Best practices from other organizations.
  • How you can convince your boss/clients that this untapped labor pool is great source of talent for your organization.
  • How to address concerns that may come from your legal counsel.
