Cross-Cultural Communications: Key Skills and How to Sharpen Them

SHRM 2012 Diversity & Inclusion Conference & Exposition
This session will help sharpen your skills and enhance your effectiveness as a D&I leader in any cross-cultural environment.

The challenge for D&I practitioners is not the lack of understanding of cross-cultural issues but in the execution. You will learn what those key skills are and how to sharpen your execution of those skills. This session is led by a dynamic cross-cultural strategist who focused her academic studies on cross-cultural communications over two decades ago, before the subject was considered cool. Her own cross-cultural life provides first-hand insights. Aranza was born in the Philippines, was raised in Hawaii, was an exchange student in Russia, resides in the metro Washington, D.C., area and travels throughout the world consulting for top Fortune 500 companies. Her own cross-cultural life allows her to bring “real world” solutions to help you be more effective and will help heighten your ability to attract and retain a multi-cultural workforce while building internal capabilities to engage talent globally.
