Employee Engagement: The First Pillar of Retention

SHRM 2013 Talent Management Conference
Employee Engagement: The First Pillar of Retention

Workplace Application: You will learn how to recognize the actively engaged employee who is seeking other career opportunities, and how to structure coaching sessions with managers that will specifically cater to the needs of this unique group, to retain your top talent.

Employee engagement continues to be a critical concern for organizations that survived the economic downturn and now look to growth patterns. One of the unintended outcomes of that effort was the broadening and sharpening of the skills of those who held onto their positions while taking on more responsibilities. As they seek to become “free agents,” a skills gap will enlarge, which will reduce your organization’s competitive growth. These actively engaged employees pose a unique problem for retention. You will learn strategies to retain and sustain these top employees to ensure that your organization remains competitive.
