Session #705: Exploring the World of Assessments: Deciphering the Simple from the Sophisticated

SHRM 2016 Annual Conference & Exposition
Workplace Application: You will learn the difference between simple versus sophisticated assessments, what they measure and how to effectively use them.

Most assessments are classified as behavioral and measure four dimensions of personality. Assessments that are more sophisticated in nature are referred to as psychological assessments; they capture a broader, more in-depth picture of personality. While many are statistically validated, they may not be statistically reliable. Behavior is the single biggest predictor of performance. Appropriately used, assessments can be an effective tool in the entire talent management process from supporting an effective selection model to predicting emerging leaders and their leadership potential. This workshop will help you:

•        Discover the difference between validity and reliability.

•        Learn what a test-taking mentality is and how it affects results.

•        Identify the three types of assessments.

•        Understand emotional and intellectual intelligence and how to measure them.

•        Learn how to design an assessment program.
