Welcome Party - Juggling & Jokes / The SHRM Comedy Club presented by Stand-Up Socials: Comedy That Connects
LIVE ONLY: Gather the entire household for an evening of exclusive virtual entertainment to kick off SHRM Talent Conference & Expo 2021!
We'll kick off with "Juggling and Jokes," presented by Laugh.Events, with Former Andy Kaufman Award Winner, Marcus Monroe, as he takes you through a rollercoaster act that features stand up comedy & juggling - all at the same time. Followed by a networking comedy hour with four different comic standups pair with networking breakout groups to get to know your Talent colleagues.
Then dive into The SHRM Comedy Club presented by Stand-Up Socials featuring a live host, who will welcome the audience and speak with various members about their comedy tastes. The host will then introduce a comedian, selected specifically for your audience. We then watch a pre-recorded comedy set, taped in front of a live audience. At the end of the set, our host will present one of the many fun(ny) conversation starter questions, as the entire gallery is broken into small breakout groups to discuss. After 3-4 minutes, we come back to the full gallery and our host will speak with some of the participants about their answer to the last question. Our host will then introduce the next comedian...When all clips and discussions are finished, we offer the attendees a chance to stay on and have an After Party, where they can talk more and meet additional people from the event.

Marshall Chiles
Marshall Chiles started stand-up comedy in 1999. After 10 years of being a stand-up comedian and club owner, in 2009 he opened the world famous comedy club called The Laughing Skull Lounge. In 2010, Marshall started The Laughing Skull Comedy Festival which is considered by the industry to be the number one discovery comedy festival in North America.
Marshall has also written three books. His first book is called ‘Your Presentation is a Joke: Using Humor to Maximize Impact’ and is currently in use as a textbook at the University of Alabama.
His second book is a children’s board book called ‘Cool Kids Share.’ He came up with the concept when his son was four years old playing on a playground. This one kid did not want to share and Marshall’s wife said, “It’s ok that the kid does not want to share.” Marshall said, “No, not really. That kid is being a jerk. Only cool kids share.” And then BAM, 10 years later he wrote the book.
His third book is children’s book for adults called ‘My Colonoscopy & Me: A Love Story.’ He wrote the first version of this book as a poem while sitting in the waiting room of his first colonoscopy. You know, like you do.
As you can see, Marshall is building a comedy empire to pass down to his children so they can eventually run it into the ground.
