The Lighthouse Effect: Nine Steps to Cultivating Everyday Gratitude

INCLUSION 2021
Looking back over the course of our lives, each of us have encountered people who helped us discover our purpose by putting us on the right path and helping us course-correct when needed. Bestselling author, philanthropist and Workhuman CHRO Steve Pemberton calls these people “human lighthouses.”

Steadfast, selfless, and unwavering, human lighthouses help others overcome adversity in even the darkest of times. So how do we foster these illuminating qualities in ourselves and our colleagues? Pemberton and Carmen Ortiz-McGhee will describe the nine attributes of a human lighthouse and share how to cultivate the lighthouse effect through connected culture, feedback, and recognition at work.

Learning Objectives:

  • Gain actionable strategies for creating an organizational culture that drives engagement.
  • Learn how small, everyday moments of gratitude can be a bridge to inclusion and belonging.
  • Reflect on and develop a deeper appreciation for the human lighthouses in your own life.
