Employer Immigration Compliance Issues in the Trump Era: I-9 and Beyond

SHRM Global Mobility and Immigration Symposium
Attendees will learn how to proactively assess their immigration compliance policies and find out what to do in the event of an audit or other compliance action.

In 2018, employers saw record numbers of ICE I-9 audits and investigations across the country. Audits quadrupled in 2018, and that may be just the tip of the iceberg. Employers must prepare for increased scrutiny by implementing compliance procedures and action plans in order to reduce the impact of an unexpected visit from ICE and avoid hefty fines. This session will provide a discussion of employer immigration compliance issues dealing with Form I-9 and beyond in light of the Trump administration's increased scrutiny.
