Ethical Alchemy: Transforming Ethics Training into Ethical Behavior

2014 Annual Conference
Workplace Application: Learn how to effectively implement and reinforce ethics training that will transform behavior.

Repeated from Tuesday at 2:15 p.m.

Most ethics training is based on magical thinking — that if we tell people the rules, they will follow them. Unfortunately, there are countless examples that demonstrate how difficult it is for people to do what they know. Beyond communicating rules and expectations, organizations should establish ethical habits. These habits, simple behaviors practiced consistently in a variety of situations, enable ethical mastery that can transform an organization’s culture and reputation. This session focuses on the responsibilities of leaders to treat people fairly, ethically and professionally and apply prescribed habits to a variety of scenarios drawn from the headlines and other real-life examples.
