NEW! Enhanced SHRM Advocacy Day - preregistration required by March 1, 2019

Take advantage of this unique opportunity to join your HR peers to visit the offices of your Senators and Representatives on Capitol Hill.  Whether you’re a first-time participant or a “veteran” of previous SHRM Advocacy Days, this is your chance to let your elected officials of the incoming 116th Congress and their staff know, in person, how pending workplace legislation will affect you, your organization and your employees back home. 

Join us for an expanded session with members of SHRM’s Advocacy Team (“A-Team”) the morning of Advocacy Day:

• Begin with a working breakfast where SHRM’s Government Affairs team will provide a deep dive on the issues you’ll be discussing in your meetings with congressional offices;
• Receive tips and recommendations on how to develop a trusted relationship on workplace issues with your Members of Congress and staffs;
• Hear from expert speakers on the key role HR plays in bringing their expertise on ‘all things work’ to the debate on workplace public policy.  
• Head to Capitol Hill for exciting conversations with your legislators and their staff , joined by other advocates from your state!

Special Advocacy Day Session

Participate in comprehensive advocacy training session to help develop your skills as an HR advocate then put those skills into action on Capitol Hill. This session is required for those who plan to participate in the Capitol Hill visits.

Lawmaker Visits on Capitol Hill

12:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. (estimated) (All lawmaker meetings will be scheduled by SHRM in advance)

*Preregistration is required by March 1, 2019. This special session will also be available for SHRM recertification credits.
