Effective communication is the crucial foundation for strong relationships, career growth, and organizational success. Alongside effective communication in the workplace, diversity in the workplace has proven to lead organizations to greater success. Despite increased efforts for hiring and supporting a diverse workforce, organizations often overlook training in diverse communication practices. This session helps attendees assess their individual and workplace communication practices, appreciate cultural influences, and develop executive skills for engaging diverse stakeholders, fostering impactful outcomes.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe how effective communication is imperative for success in a diversely evolving environment.
- Classify components of and types of effective workplace communication.
- Describe the role of cultural influences on communication.
- List at least two strategies for more impactful active listening.
- List at least one strategy for improved leadership communication with diverse stakeholders.

Sonia Sethi-Kohli, M.S., CCC-SLP is a 20 + year Communication Success Coach, Cultural-Linguistic Diversity Consultant, Educator, Author, and board-certified multilingual Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) who has served in a variety of settings/roles with extensive clinical and corporate experience. Ms. Sethi Kohli owns and operates The Global Speech Suite, a boutique firm providing customized coaching and consultation to individuals/organizations focusing on professional presentation skills/public speaking enhancement, leadership communication/executive presence coaching, cross-/inter-cultural communication & diversity consulting, and more, leveraging their proprietary ExecYOUtive™ development methodology. Sonia also owns and operates her clinical speech-language pathology private practice, Global Speech and Swallow, serving children/adults within healthcare and educational contexts; co-founded The Communication Collective, an online communication enrichment & leadership development coaching program for children & teens; co-authored The SLP Entrepreneur: A Speech-Language Pathologist’s Guide to Private Practice and Other Business Ventures (a professional resource book for clinical professionals seeking to engage in business ownership/entrepreneurship); serves on the Executive Board of CORSPAN [The Corporate Speech Pathology Network]; and serves as an Advisor and Mentor for various organizations and small business owners.
