In an economic downturn, cost cutting measures such as layoffs, wage and benefit reductions, and furloughs are often necessary to maintain the bottom line. In this session we discuss the interplay between common labor-related cost cutting measures and immigration rules and requirements. We will explore the limitations of cost cutting measures when dealing with immigration programs and some alternatives to help achieve financial objectives and fair treatment of employees while remaining compliant.

She advises companies on employment-related immigration issues, focusing on strategic immigration planning and regulatory compliance and has extensive experience representing clients in a wide variety of industries with complex matters across all major employment-based temporary and permanent visa categories. She regularly assists clients with internal audits (LCA and I-9) and government investigation. Priscilla frequently presents on immigration topics for SHRM and is a regular contributor of Practice Advisories and webinars for the American Immigration Lawyers Association.

Nathalie joined Fragomen in 2011 and is currently Counsel in their Washington, DC office. She provides corporate immigration guidance to domestic and multinational entities concerning employment-based visas and permanent residency. Nathalie works with companies to develop strategic planning to ensure compliance with immigration laws and policies. She partners closely with her clients to provide custom immigration solutions and has crafted large-scale immigration programs to meet the unique requirements of the financial services and information technology industries. Nathalie has led immigration presentations and training sessions for several organizations, including SHRM and the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
