The New Rules of Inclusion: How Great Leaders Can Change the Workplace for Good

Inclusion 2020
Learn how to create actionable inclusion in your organization and how to get leadership on board for change.

We are about to become a minority-majority nation. And yet, companies across the country do not reflect the transforming demographics of our nation, particularly with leadership. For decades, we’ve heard variations on the same theme on how to increase organizational diversity and we have still not moved. We need a new approach. In this session, we explain how to transform diversity and inclusion from mere lip service into the very heart of our organizations. Following the workplace journey of a young black woman, we start with the old rules of diversity and why they have failed us again and again. Then we talk about the new rules of inclusion, the 10 rules we must follow to create an inclusive and equitable organization where everyone can bring authentic diversity to work and still belong and succeed. We change the rules, we change the world. That’s how we make diversity and inclusion matter for good.

Learning Objectives:

  • Contrast the traditional way of speaking about diversity with the new way of speaking about inclusion.
  • Understand how belonging and authenticity are at the heart of diversity and inclusion.
  • Apply the 10 new rules of inclusion to the work you do in your organization.
