REPEATED | Making Your Business Safe and Affirmative for Transgender and Non-Binary Employees

Inclusion 2020
Attendees will learn the 'dos and donts' of supporting and providing a safe and inclusive space for a transgender employee in their business.

While improving diversity knowledge is a required component of every business, the TGNB (Transgender and Non-Binary) population is often left out of the conversation. With more and more individuals identifying as TGNB, exclusion from diversity conversations can have a deep impact on your business. Regardless of your company mission and client base, your employees deserve to feel more than 'included', they should be able to feel affirmed and safe. This training will help participants build and encourage gender diversity in their workplace and community, as well as identify key components of your business that are affecting the ability for your TGNB employees to feel affirmed and safe in the workplace. This presentation will also provide easy to understand resources, one-sheets and guides for HR staff to with and utilize in their businesses.

Learning Objectives:

  • Differentiate between common transgender terminology and laws and its relation to the workplace
  • Understand the importance of creating a trans-inclusive work environment and its effect on the business (monetary, culture, retention)
  • Identify five respectful trans-inclusive practices and behaviors pertinent to the workplace and HR
  • Identify two areas of improvement in their own business, as well as identify practices and behaviors that need to be implemented upon return to the workplace
