Moving the Needle on Diversity & Inclusion Starts with Goal Clarity

Attendees will learn to BE CLEAR and intentional about D&I efforts which will support a sustainable strategic approach in your organization.

The topic of Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) has been an area of focus for several years.  However, in many organizations, little progress has been made in terms of truly leveraging the value of D&I to create true inclusive environments.  In general, organization encounter specific challenges that may limit opportunities to move the needle regarding D&I in the workplace.   This presentation has been requested by a number of SHRM chapters and members.

Learning Objectives:

  • Define D&I: Develop a common language.  Ensure that there is clarity around the definition of the terms diversity and inclusion for the organization and those that have responsibility to the organization. 
  • Explore the dimension of diversity: Create an awareness that there are several dimensions of diversity that have an impact on the way that we, as humans, interact with each other - which ultimately has an impact our work relationships.
  • Demographic outlook: Organizations are not immune to the impacts of D&I in the workplace.  Participants will explore the intersection of D&I and specific demographics. 
  • Tips for success: Participants will be provided with reinforcement tips to ensure practical and consistent application of concepts shared throughout the training.

Delphia L. Howze is a forward-thinking Human Resources and Diversity & Inclusion leader with more than 25 years of successful experience in helping organizations leverage human capital to create and strengthen inclusive environments. 

Delphia consistently collaborates with senior leaders, key stakeholders, and HR colleagues to shape, develop and deliver HR and D&I strategic plans aligned with organizational priorities. She is the CEO and Founder of D. Howze Solutions, LLC, a D&I consultancy. She also serves as the inaugural Chief Inclusion Officer for Oak Ridge National Laboratory. 

Delphia holds a BA from the University of Pittsburgh, an MBA from Point Park University, and Project Management Certification from Villanova University, and is currently a doctoral student.
