Accommodating extended leave requests and implementing disability accommodations can be burdensome. However, the law does have its limits. This session will discuss the various disability-related laws and regulations as well as provide guidance on when you have satisfied your duties. You will learn:
· The most common problems both employers and managers face.
· How to effectively navigate the interactive process.
· How to determine when an employee's leave becomes an undue hardship.
· When you may safely end the interactive process or consider terminating disabled employees.
Shayna Helene Balch
Shayna Balch is a partner in both the Phoenix and Los Angeles offices. She represents employers in employment and labor litigation matters before federal and state courts as well as before administrative agencies. She handles matters across all facets of labor and employment law including employment discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, restrictive covenants, preventive counseling, employee training, personnel policies, and employment agreements.
