SMART STAGE: Anonymity in the Age of Transparency

SHRM 2016 Annual Conference & Exposition

Leaders are expected to be transparent with employees about the good stuff and the bad. The financials of organizations are increasingly in the open.  And, as individuals, we share more personal information with the world through social media than anyone cares to know. And yet, in the face of strong trends towards openness and transparency, HR insists on the importance anonymity in some of our most important processes like employee surveys, 360 degree assessments and other development feedback.  Employees and leaders are ready to abandon anonymity.  It’s time for HR to do the same.
