Shaun Haley has been representing private- and public-sector employers in Nevada for a decade, with a primary focus on traditional labor and wage and hour matters. He regularly represents clients before administrative agencies such as the National Labor Relations Board, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the U.S. Department of Labor, the Nevada Equal Rights Commission, and the Nevada State Labor Commissioner. Shaun also advises employers on a wide array of personnel matters, including policies and procedures, disciplines, discharges, and drafting and enforcement of non-compete agreements. As part of his labor practice, Shaun has represented employers in numerous grievance and interest arbitrations and in collective bargaining. Shaun has spoken frequently before a number of professional groups on matters such as prevailing wages, workplace investigations, and labor relations. He has also taught continuing education classes for the State Bar of Nevada. Shaun has just been recently recognized as a “Rising Star” in labor and employment law for 2011 in the Mountain States Edition of Super Lawyers.

Judy Young is Associate Director at the Executive Education of Cornell University’s ILR School. She is responsible for the instructional design and management of public workshops and custom programs for HR and D&I practitioners seeking to advance their skills and leverage equity and inclusion for organizational effectiveness.  Judy’s focus is on developing and sharing strategies for effectively balancing legal obligations with promising practices that promote respectful and inclusive work environments for all.  Judy’s special interest and expertise include the inclusion of workers with disabilities and veterans and she has assisted many organizations in their efforts to increase the integration of these groups in the workplace. Judy  is a frequent presenter at major diversity, employment, and veteran-focused conferences and she is a member of the speaker’s bureau of the Society of Human Resource Management.

Robert Mellwig serves as Senior Vice President, Really Cool People (Human Resources) for Lowe Enterprises / Destination Hotels & Resorts. Robert joined the firm in March 2004 and holds responsibility for the entirety of the HR function for all hospitality and non-hospitality related businesses. Lowe Enterprises is over billion dollars in real estate holdings and operates an investment, real estate, development and hospitality operating group. Destination Hotels & Resorts currently operates 38 hotels and resorts predominantly independent throughout the domestic U.S. and Hawaii.

Prior to joining Lowe Enterprises / Destination Hotels & Resorts, Robert held corporate staffing responsibility at the home office with Starwood Hotels & Resorts and held prior field HR responsibility within the W Hotel group. Robert’s HR career began with Hilton Hotels Corporation where he held various HR and training posts. Additionally, Robert has worked with Marriott in Australia, The Trump Organization and Hyatt Hotels and Resorts.

Robert has been an active member of SHRM since 1997 and has held his SPHR credential since 1999. Mellwig holds a B.S. in Hospitality Management from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island. Robert has been a contributing member to many HR trade publications, is a member of the AH&LA HR Advisory Group and has been a speaker at The HR in Hospitality Conference and Cornell Executive HR Roundtable.

Deb Peluso has spent over a decade collaborating with clients in military, government, non-profit and Fortune 500 organizations to improve organizational performance and execute large scale change initiatives. She began her career studying how experts size up their environments and make quick decisions in complex, time pressured situations in fields as diverse as healthcare, government compliance, consumer products development, international peacekeeping, urban combat, and software development. Her work focused on eliciting tacit knowledge and finding the best ways to enable the transfer of knowledge and expertise to others – through the design of jobs, knowledge management systems, user interfaces, and training programs. She has also held positions as an organization development consultant in a major academic medical center and in two Fortune 100 financial services and manufacturing organizations, where she focused on individual, team, and enterprise-wide change management projects and initiatives. Deb holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Dayton and a Master of Organization Development from Bowling Green State University.

Bill Schiemann is founder and CEO of Metrus Group, specializing in performance measurement and organizational change. He has consulted extensively with corporations on the development and implementation of business and people strategies; HR measurement; strategic employee surveys and internal value assessments; and creating high performance cultures. He also founded the Metrus Institute, which supports research and publications, many in the human capital arena.  

Bill is a thought leader in the human resources field, having written scores of articles and six books in the human capital area, most recently the SHRM-published book, Hidden Drivers of Success:  Leveraging Employee Insights for Strategic Advantage (2013). 

He is the Past Chair of the SHRM Foundation Board of Directors and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the HR Certification Institute.  He has been named a Fellow and Scholar by the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology.
