How to Build the Talent Pipeline for Women of Color

Inclusion 2020
Explore the challenges of early career multi-cultural women and gain best practices to best support their development and advancement.

Did you know that men hold 62% of managerial positions and women hold only 38%? In 2019, LeanIn released the 5th annual, Women in the Workplace report which centered on the 'broken rung', disparities in the first step up to manager. These disparities are greatest among women of color who are often described as the most 'ambitious’ yet receive the least support and opportunities for advancement. This highly interactive session will highlight best practices in developing and retaining women of color at the early career level. The session will also feature the results of College Code's national pulse survey of 100 early career women of color across finance, technology, and consumer goods.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explore the experiences of early career multi-cultural women in the workplace with a focus on identity, belonging, and opportunity.

  • Discover causes of the 'broken rung' and how to create a winning culture of inclusion and development.

  • Highlight organizations with best-in-class policies, programs, and practices to support early career populations and multi-cultural women.

  • Receive College Code's Winning Strategies for Multi-Cultural Women' toolkit for post-session action planning.
