Effective Supervision and Why It Matters

2021 Talent Conference & Expo
Attendees will learn what research says about the cost of effective/ineffective supervision and learn 10 strategies for being an effective supervisor.

All too often, employees are promoted to the role of supervisor because of their strong technical or clinical expertise. However, an effective supervisory relationship requires not only that the supervisor be a content/technical expert but also that they also accept the enormous responsibility of being a coach. How many of us in our working lives have asked for a transfer, resigned from a job or have at least pondered one of these actions because of a supervisor we did not get along with—one who did not have effective management and/or people skills? Regardless of the leader's level within an organization, effective supervision has the greatest opportunity to impact employee engagement.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn the Servant Leadership approach.
  • Learn what research says about the cost of effective and ineffective supervision.
  • Learn 10 strategies for being an effective supervisor.
