Effectively Managing a Remote Workforce
Yahoo and Best Buy both made the very public decision to end flexible work from home programs. This has led to an avalanche of questions related to the viability of having a flexible workforce who performs their job from home all or some of the time. How do you know that your “work from home” employees are actually working? What can you do to ensure they are as productive from home as they are from the office? What must field management do to effectively lead a remote team? This session will cover best practices on communicating with and tracking a remote team, guidelines for when remote work is appropriate, common pitfalls and how to avoid them, as well as many logistical and insurance issues that must be considered with home-based workers. Learn the policies and leadership tactics necessary to breed a culture for a productive and successful remote workforce, and how to effectively lead and manage employees working outside of the office environment.
