Using Incentives to Drive Wellness Program Participation
While wellness programs have emerged as a method to address rising costs and declining health, many organizations still struggle to define strategies and engage employees in their health. To promote health and encourage positive behavior change, organizations have turned to a wide variety of incentives. You will hear about Miami University’s achievements and missteps as they implemented a comprehensive incentive program to establish a culture of wellness. This session will help you understand why incentives are an integral component of successful wellness programs; show you how to refine your incentive strategies to engage employees in wellness programs; and, discover incentive ideas you can implement into your organization’s wellness program.
Dawn Fahner, PHR
Dawn Fahner, PHR, Director of Benefits and Wellness, at Miami University a position she has held since 2007. Dawn has been employed with Miami University for 9 years; prior to Miami she was employed with Wal-Mart Stores Inc. as a Human Resource Manager. She received her certification as a Professional in Human Resources in 2010 and obtained her Bachelor's Degree from Miami University. Dawn currently serves as co-chair for the Ohio Inter-University Council Benefit Committee.
Sherry Schilling, PHR
Sherry Schilling, PHR, is a Senior Benefits Generalist in the Benefits & Wellness department at Miami University, a position she has held since 2007. She has been at the University for 16 years. Previous benefits experience includes positions at Coca-Cola Enterprises and Sprint. She received her certification as a Professional in Human Resources in 2010 and is a graduate of the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. She is currently vice-president of the Board of Directors of the United Way in Oxford, Ohio.
