CDW Increased Speed to Hire with Text Recruiting. Are You Equipped to Text Candidates?

2019 Talent Conference & Exposition

With more than 6.1 billion people texting worldwide, Fortune 200 technology solutions provider CDW saw an opportunity to evolve its recruitment marketing strategies by leveraging text messaging to recruit and communicate with candidates. Learn how CDW rolled out text recruiting globally to fill roles quicker and more efficiently at a time when employers are feeling the pain of low unemployment rates, and speed is of the essence. CDW achieved more than $15 billion in revenue in 2017 and is continuing to expand. As the organization has grown, finding areas that increase productivity and drive efficiency has been essential. And in a tightened labor market, time-to-fill is higher, so speed to market is everything. CDW first introduced text recruiting to a small group of recruiters in 2016 and fully rolled it out in 2017. Because open and response rates for e-mail and phone calls are so low, CDW saw an opportunity to get better and faster responses with TextRecruit―and that is exactly what it achieved.

Learning Objectives:

  • Find out how to create a text recruiting strategy that actually works, showcases your brand and keeps authenticity. “Leave a message and I'll get back to you” is a thing of the past for CDW. Text messaging has positioned CDW to be a market leader for the future of talent acquisition and allows its recruiters to focus on the high-value, high-impact portions of the recruiting life cycle.
  • Learn the do's and don'ts of text recruiting. CDW will provide an inside look at lessons learned and tips for getting started to achieve adoption across your team. The use of automated correspondence and reminders saved CDW more than 400 hours of recruiter productivity in 2017.
  • Explore the importance of integrating text messaging software to your recruitment platform, and get advice for achieving standardization and compliance with text messaging.
  • Discover new ways to track your success with text recruiting. Over the past 18 months, CDW's text response rate was 46 percent, with a two-hour response time to its initial outreach. The open rate with texting is five times CDW’s open rate with e-mail, and the opt-out rate for text is 25 times lower than e-mail.
