Canary in the Coal Mine: Is Resilience the Wrong Approach?
Status message
A session in this conference ends more than 10 days after the conference! Some sessions may not appear properly in My Session Planner.Workforce sustainability in a hyper-competitive employment paradigm requires HR professionals to think and act differently, especially regarding workplace stress and mental health. Your people are the barometer for the health of your organization; They are the canaries; Your workplace is the metaphorical coal mine. Are you listening to what your employees are saying (or not saying, but are showing) about workplace stress, or are you solely relying on their personal resilience to carry them through?
Learning Objectives:
- Examine the common causes of workplace stress and reflect on the benefits of resilience in dealing with workplace stress.
- Discuss why traditional approaches using personal resilience as the go-to to solution to address workplace stress and mental health are no longer sufficient.
- Understand principles of job design and organizational culture and climate that can be used to address root causes and mitigate workplace stress.
- Share best practices for reducing workplace stress based on the understanding that personal resilience is not, and should not be, the only answer to mitigating workplace stress and promoting positive mental health.
In-person session offerings are on a first-come, first-served basis.
