Communities of Practice (CoP) can be an effective way to improve the productivity and efficiency of large groups of employees with a proportionally small input from formal learning, training, or HR staff.
What is a CoP? It's when groups of active practitioners in a specific field or area of focus come together to share ideas, experiences and best practices. When done well it creates a sense of shared support and ownership that can store shared knowledge and create new knowledge.
CoPs can be a great strategy to help teams adapt to rapid changes in processes and procedures, such as how to integrate AI effectively into existing work.
Learning Objectives:
- Some ideas of how to create a new CoP
- How to integrate it with other strategies, such as skills-based learning
- Ideas for how to deal with compliance and reporting requirements without resorting to top down management of the group
