Creating a Globally Inclusive Workplace

SHRM 2012 Diversity & Inclusion Conference & Exposition
This session will provide three key leadership skills necessary for managing a globally inclusive workplace.

The problems of managing today’s multi-cultural and diverse workforce do not stem from the heterogeneity of the workforce itself but from the unfortunate inability of leaders to deal with the heterogeneity, divest themselves of their personal prejudicial attitudes, and creatively unleash the potential embedded in a multicultural workforce. You will learn about the three key leadership skills necessary for managing a globally inclusive workplace and will walk away knowing how to use a three-step process to assess situations and shift perspectives during moments of inclusion. You will also identify how cultural differences create misunderstandings in communication. By the end of this session, you will be more self-aware about how thoughts can drive behaviors which inhibit moments of inclusion.
