SESSION CANCELLED: Reconnecting Humanity
Our society is filled with people in pain and overwhelmed by emotion, which oftentimes spills into the workplace, left for HR to manage. Join former hostage and crisis negotiator Scott Tillema, as he leads a session on how negotiators work people through crisis, utilizing the power of connection and helping people discover their purpose. This session outlines the bonding process and how we can reconnect teams and organizations using this unique approach.
Learning Objectives:
- Attendees will understand the importance of connection, to their own mental health and well-being, and the serious issues that can occur without it.
- The active listening skills, as taught by the FBI will be presented so participants have immediate actionable information.
- Learn the 'FEARs', or the drivers of human behavior. What they are and how they impact decision making.
- Find the inspiration and courage to take the steps needed to connect with others, even in the most challenging situations.
Scott Tillema
Scott Tillema has over 20 years of law enforcement experience in the Chicago area and is an FBI trained hostage negotiator.
Educationally, Scott holds a master’s degree in psychology, a bachelor’s degree in behavioral science, and has received training at Harvard University’s Program on Negotiation.
Today, as a partner at The Negotiations Collective, an international negotiations training firm, he provides organizational training and keynote speaking around the concepts of influence and conflict resolution.
Scott currently serves the human resources field by teaching professionals how to navigate difficult conversations with skill and confidence using principles from crisis negotiation.
