Although deskless workers, or employees who rarely sit behind a desk to do their job, make up a sizable portion of the U.S. workforce, employers often struggle to find ways to meet these workers’ needs. To better understand the strategies used to encourage benefits enrollment and utilization among this group, SHRM partnered with Fidelity to conduct a survey of HR professionals. Join us as we dive into the results, and examine the best practices currently used within HR to engage deskless workers about their benefits.

Lydia Aulisi, PhD is a researcher within Fidelity Workplace Research, Insights, and Thought Leadership. She supports the strategy, planning, and execution of employee- and employer-focused strategic research projects, leveraging behavioral science perspectives and methodologies. Lydia received her PhD in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from George Mason University, where her research focused on employee well-being, work-nonwork decision making, and utilization of workplace leave benefits (e.g., vacation, parental leave). She is passionate about applying evidence-based approaches to promote employee well-being, engagement, and organizational health.
Ragan Decker, Ph.D.
Ragan Decker, Ph.D., SHRM-CP, is an Industrial-Organizational Psychologist and Manager of Executive Network and Enterprise Research at SHRM. She designs and conducts strategic research to support SHRM’s mission as it relates to work, workers, and the workplace. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut and Graduate Certificates in Quantitative Research Methods and Occupational Health Psychology. Her work has been published in HR Magazine and People + Strategy as well as peer-reviewed journals such as Occupational Health Science, Employee Responsibilities and Rights Journal, and Annals of Work Exposure and Health.
